Solution: Left Shoulder Arthroscopy, Rotator Cuff Repair Right Shoulder Arthroscopy, Rotator Cuff Repair

Over six years ago I damaged both shoulders lifting an air compressor onto the back of my truck. I felt it immediately in the left shoulder while it took a year or two for the right one to manifest pain. I began having pain in both shoulder while performing certain routine tasks. In September of 2010 I awoke one Saturday morning and could not raise my right arm more than chest high. I attributed that to possibly sleeping on the shoulder, which had never been a problem before. I did what most would would do, took some medication, worked it loose and left to go play golf. After a few days, the pain was constant. I visited Dr. Leong and after an x-ray and MRI I was told I had a torn rotator cuff. Dr. Leong operated on the right shoulder on November 15, 2010. After physical therapy at Advanced Therapy Solutions I was back to playing golf by late April. In July I began having problems with the left shoulder and the pain would not go away. Dr. Leong operated on the left side on November 17th. After more therapy at Advanced Therapy Solutions I am back playing golf and doing a lot of things that I just didn't have the strength to accomplish. Happily, I have strength on both sides now that I haven't had in years thanks to the great folks at Orthopedic Specialties. All who attended me were great, told me what I needed to do, thankfully I listened and did as I was told. These folks are attentive, concerned and great at what they do.

Solution: Bilateral Knee Replacement

I would like to thank Dr. Visk for his expertise and professional skills when he replaced both of my knees. I returned to work within six weeks after the first operation and four weeks after the second. Because of the great work he did on both my knees I was able to continue working as an Aerospace Consultant and 3rd party auditor. Walking is important and critical for my work as I am flying commercial on a weekly basis. I would like to say thanks again for the great care I recieved from Dr. Visk and his staff at Orthopedic Specialties.

Solution: Knee Replacement

I kept putting off knee replacement. My concern was infection and blood clots. When I shared this fear with Dr. Keith, he assured me all precautions would be taken. He used the custom knee, Stryker replacement. After surgery I had very little pain, no bruising and my mobility is far beyond expectations. I am so happy with the left knee that I am planning to get the right knee replaced soon.

Solution: Knee Arthroscopy

At 49 years old, I injured my knee playing Church league basketball, I was very concerned that it would impact my mobility, particularly for running. Running has been an activity that I have enjoyed for the past fifteen years. After the initial injury I continued to exercise but after a few weeks it became impossible to run. I did some research and came to the conclusion that it could be a meniscus tear. The folks at Orthopedic Specialties were able to get me in very quickly with Dr. Tommy Leong. He and his associates were very helpful and reassuring. He took time to explain how the knee works and through a quick series of tests he diagnosed the meniscus tear. He explained in detail the injury to the knee and what he would do to repair it. He assured me that I would be back running again after the repair.  I was anxious to get it over with and they were able to schedule my procedure the following week. I am happy to say that I was back at work the day after the procedure and was back running within two weeks. Two months later I feel like I did prior to the injury. I have been very satisfied with the treatment and the experience I had dealing with the folks at Orthopedic Specialties of Spartanburg.

Solution: Computer Navigated Knee Replacement

The pain in Jerry Hembree’s knee was keeping a good man down. When regular shots stopped working, it was time to call in the big guns – CAOS (Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery), actually.

Jerry turned to Dr. Anthony Sanchez here at Orthopedic Specialties, who employed a newly developed computer navigation system to replace Jerry’s knee into perfect alignment. After only four weeks of recovery time, Jerry is way beyond pain-free. He’s even playing golf again…and, no doubt, looking for one of those navigators to use on the putting green.

Solution: Arthroscopic Meniscus Repair

Even at 6 foot 4 inches, 225 pounds, Andrew Lanier expected to feel some pain during summer football camp. But this Shrine Bowl veteran and Dorman tight end did not plan on tearing his right meniscus.

Since this was the first “big” surgery of his career, Andrew turned to Dr. Stephen Kana of Orthopedic Specialties. The procedure lasted only 30 minutes and recovery only took a little more than three weeks. Plenty of time to get himself back in shape, graduate high school and sign with Virginia Tech.

Solution: Knee Microfracture Surgery, Bilateral Hip Replacement, Oxford Unicompartmental Knee Replacement

Ed Church has been seeing Dr. John Keith for 15 years. He started with knee microfracture surgery in 1994 after a golf trip in the Bahamas. Then there was the right hip in 2003. Of course, there was also the left hip replacement in 2006. This year it was the Oxford Knee Replacement.

Ed doesn’t trust just anybody, but he trusts Dr. Keith of Orthopedic Specialties. Ed was back playing golf just six weeks after hip replacement surgery. It only took four days to recover from his knee operation. So, even though Ed can’t be certain what moving part may fail next, he can sure tell you who he’ll call to get it moving again.
